  THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH

The executive branch of the government is responsible for enforcing the laws and regulations as set forth by the Constitution, the Congress and the President. The President, Vice President, Cabinet and department heads, as well as the appropriate federal agencies carry out this mission. The power of the Executive Branch rests in the President of the United States, who also acts as head of state, chief diplomat and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. The President also has the power to enact law through executive order, the power of veto and the power of appointment.

Answering to the President, the Cabinet and independent federal agencies are responsible for the day-to-day enforcement and administration of federal laws, and encompass every aspect from the Department of Defense to the Federal Communications Commission.  A full list of Executive Departments and agencies is below.
